Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily, even in tight spaces.
For a smooth ride, opt for a pram with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are prone to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.

Figures have just been released showing that the three-wheeled buggy - a symbol of the noughties of more money than wisdom is on the verge of disappearing. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more flexible and simple to drive and look fashionable.
The larger the wheels are the more your buggy will be able to deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. With larger wheels front and back also makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with the newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it to be extremely robust. It handled cobbles, grass, and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and require to be pumped regularly they have suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. The seat should be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others only allow for the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or wet walks. This buggy is ideal for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat unit. The storage options are excellent as well, with a large basket, zip pockets inside the hood and a handy pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Wheels with a greater diameter
Larger wheels means that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. They also allow you to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature swivel wheels on the front to aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is also useful if you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite broad and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as an exercise bike or to to get through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Many models have compact folding options, which allow you to remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to manoeuvre
One of the major advantages to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver especially with a child in tow. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels turn at a whim and are extremely maneuverable, making them ideal for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive in rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly useful." I was also awed by how well it coped with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or over uneven terrain."
The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of if your home area is a city. If this is a problem, a 4-wheeled buggy may be the better choice for you.
